Favorite Nursing & Maternity Bras

Honestly, bra shopping is already the WORST when you are not prego or postpartum.

*** before we jump in, since I’m sharing some of my nursing experience here I want to clarify something. I am NOT a person that thinks there is only one way to feed your baby. I’m on board with whatever works for you, baby, sanity, & your lifestyle. No judgement here, just support in whatever your choose.

Fear not pregnant & nursing/pumping friends I have your back… and your gals!

My first pregnancy I was delusional about how much & quickly my boobs would change size and bought new ‘normal bras’ in one cup & band size up. Then I quickly realized how delulu I was as I rapidly changed size again.

Through trial & error I found some great options that fit longer term. Now enjoy the fruits of my shopping & wearing tribulations during my last & current pregnancy, as well as 2 years of nursing my first baby.

Links are for affiliates & I could make a small percentage on purchases made after you click through them.

  • True & Co: great for literally anytime. I’ve converted. I haven’t nursed in it yet, but it pulls down & up easily. I love it while pregnant because it’s super smooth, has flexible cups, the band comes low enough to prevent underboob chafe, and it’s stretchy enough to fit multiple sizes as you grow, then shrink! I recently bought the lace racer back style and have worn it a few times. Not as flexible style wise, but nice to have. Both styles I have a size Large.

  • Third Love: I started wearing 2 of these on rotation as my everyday bras once my supply & size evened out while nursing. Feels like wearing a ‘real bra’, but with beautiful gold clips and Third Love’s soft memory foam cups! I bought one new from them & one on Poshmark NWT once I knew I liked it.

  • Crossover from Target: great for sleeping in or days at home. Though I will say the first few weeks PP my boobs were so heavy they slid out of the cups when I leaned over or laid on my side. A few weeks later I tried again and began to wear them all the time.

  • Padded from Target: this is good for shirts & dresses that require more ‘normal’ bra shape & support. I have a 38D (usually I’m a 36C) & it fit me longer into this pregnancy than last. I also started to wear it after my supply was established & my cup size started decreasing a bit. You can try these on IN Target before buying to help with sizing.

Crossover from Amazon: these are the most flexible option & what I wore most of the time last pregnancy & PP. I have size Large. In my typical size, 36C, it fits on the smallest hooks. While in my third trimester & first few months PP it fits on the middle hooks. It has removable padding that I didn’t use when nursing at home, but I would put in to leave the house for some shape/lift in fitted tops. LOVE the pull down OR clip option. This is the bra I’m wearing in this pic above, right after giving birth.

Momanda: this is great for tank tops, open backs, or a lil extra coverage in front, for anything that plunges. Definitely the one that feels the sexiest.

Behind the Scenes of our DIY Spring collection photoshoot

This has been our most challenging (and therefore rather behind schedule) collection to develop. Fabrics were delayed, with no response to inquiries from the company. Our original photographer was unavailable, and I typed then didn’t send a follow-up message to our other photographer. Hot mess express!

After realizing the shoot I thought I had booked wasn’t booked, we were already behind schedule and needed photos as easily and as soon as possible. It was time to Tim Gunn, Make it work! Time to DIY my backyard into a tropical oasis, shoot & edit ourselves, and hope for the best. It wasn’t our first plan, or second, or third, but it was kind of a plan???

With a little online shopping, Mom’s eye for photography, a tiny photobomber, and some creative cropping I think they photos turned out better than we had hoped! I needed some new porch items anyway, so I bought these faux plants, outdoor rug, umbrella, and accent table. My dad also brought over one of their pool loungers to lend to the tropical resort vibe.

So, I don’t plan to do it again, but our DIY backyard photoshoot turned into something we’re pretty proud of! Shop these new spring styles now before they go away!

What makes Lyocell Awesome

I’ve dedicated a lot of time this past year to finding more sustainable & people friendly materials. This season is our most eco-friendly and luxurious yet, using mostly Lyocell & Rayon materials.

These are made from plant fibers, mostly eucalyptus trees, which grow even in the worst soil. The chemicals used to break down the plant into fibers are non-toxic and are used over & over again. Bonus, rayon & Lyocell are biodegradable. When fibers get in the water (during laundry) and production scraps go in the trash they break down fast! You can read more about Lyocell here.

By contrast, when we wash synthetic fibers we are sending tiny pieces of plastic (microplastics) into our water supply! Most synthetics are also made using toxic chemicals, contributing to air & water pollution.

Now, some items have to be synthetics like activewear, swimwear, & other stretchy items. We think some stretch here & there is important so we’ll continue having minimal amounts of synthetic fibers in new styles, but we’re working to limit that amount as much as possible.

Sustainable fabrics are pricier, but the far smaller impact on our environment will save us all money in the future by protecting our planet now. We love that!

If you have synthetic fabric items you can wash them in Guppyfriend bags to catch the microplastics & dump them in your trash instead of directly into water. *That’s not an affiliate link, just a great product!
