I wrote a requested post on trends yesterday and promised to follow up with applicable outfit posts.  Here is my first! This trend intimidated me the most.  I have lots of colors and patterns in my wardrobe, but really no solid color skirts or pants other than gray, black, white, or denim.  A dress was easier than getting a top and a bottom in the same color family.  So, I went with turquoise because I have a lot of that and red.  From there I went to my belt rack and chose this with similar tones then the ring was conveniently on my countertop!

The key with trends is that you can't follow all of them in one outfit.  Choose one that you find intriguing and give it a go.  If you get some double-takes that's probably a good thing, unless it's someone whose fashion sense you REALLY trust.  People wish they had the guts to pull off the interesting looks you're tempted to try.  So, GO FOR IT!  If a trend or silhouette don't work for you then keep at it until you build yourself a signature fit style, and build trends on it from there!  I personally know that I cannot wear a drop waist dress unless the skirt is long and the bodice is fitted.  Since my torso is so long and my legs are short in comparison I try to stick with higher waisted looks that lengthen my bottom half.  Every body is different!
