Tuesday Tunes- Joe Dunlap

Hey there.  This week I am going to be telling you about one of my best friends in the entire world, Joe Dunlap.  I've known Joe since 6th grade, when we were on a baseball team together.  We used to play music together in a band for about 4 years, and it was one of the best times of my life.  He is such a great person and one of the best all around musicians I know.  He is the type of guy that can pick up an instrument he's never played and have it mastered within a few hours.  Pretty remarkable.
On Saturday, he released his first true solo album, Protos Credo. It's a 5 song EP, filled with passion, honesty, talent, and some of the most profound lyrics I have heard in a while.  I know I'm partially biased because he's my best friend, but I don't know many people that can write better than he can.  He is always trying new and interesting things.  Never shying away from a topic, he has written songs so personal, I've only seen him play them live once or twice.  My favorite lyric on the album is "I was so pure.  This body covered by filth is no longer yours."  He seems to put everything he's got in to these two lines.  It gives me chills every time I hear it.
I am beyond proud of his work and what he has accomplished with this album.  He's been writing music for a while, but this feels like the real start for him.  I can't wait to see some of the opportunities that come his way.  The limited edition lyric book in these photos was illustrated by our friend Whitney Brown, and water-colored by hand by Joe.
Do yourself a favor and go buy his album on iTunes or Amazon. You will not be disappointed.  If you somehow are, let me know and I will personally refund your money.
