Tuesday Tunes - Bunbury 2013 Excitement
Hello
everyone. This upcoming weekend Mallory and I will be attending the 2nd
annual Bunbury Music Festival at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati. I'm excited
for some of the bigger acts like MGMT, The National, and Walk The Moon. I'm still pretty pumped to see some of the lesser known bands. Also,
thankfully this year we live close enough to walk or bike
each day. That makes it much easier for us to come and go. Anyway,
here are a few bands I'm excited for:
Seabird
They are actually a band from the Northern KY area, near Cincinnati. I know
they've been around for a little while because I remember playing with
them with my band a few years ago. You've probably heard some of their
music on a few tv shows. One of their songs was actually the theme song for Pushing Daisies. Anyway, they are really good, solid
songwriters, and it's nice to have something like that from your own
area. I'm excited for the exposure they'll get from this festival.
Chairlift
I'll be honest, I had never heard of these guys before
going through the Bunbury lineup, but after llistening to them I got
pretty excited for their set. They have a very dance/techno that also
includes vocals. I don't like a ton of music that style because I think
it can kind of all blend together. Occasionally someone is able to
pull it off tastefully, and I think Chairlift is able to do that pretty
well.
The Mowgli's
I think this may be a more popular band, but I'm not
really 100% sure. I do know that I've watched some of their live stuff
and they seem to put on a pretty great show. I'm especially excited to see this
song, "San Francisco."
There are a ton of other great bands playing this year,
and I think if you have the opportunity to make it out to at least one
of the days, you really should go. We had a blast last year and I think
this year is going to be just as much fun. Hope to see you there! Brian. p.s. from Mallory, Camera Obscura is going to be there!
