Drugstore Lipsticks

After doing this post on Nars lipsticks I got a lot of questions about more accessible & inexpensive options.  A few weeks ago, after doing extensive research online, I visited the Walgreens Beauty Shop and started testing a plethora of drugstore lipsticks.  I chose a few brands then wore each shade for a day adding more after I found a few lines that I liked.  I started each the same.  I put on Burt's Bees Original let it soak in a while, applied the lipstick, then blotted it with tissue.  Some wore off in hours and a few stayed put all day long.  I didn't have high expectations, and none beat the Nars.  However, a few wore off evenly and were a great texture for as long as they lasted.

Revlon ColorStay was my absolute favorite because they are a beautiful matte texture.  The three I've tried are really sheer and stay for a long time.  The top is 030 High Heels, second is 060 It Girl, and today I bought 080 Fashionista (sheer dark red).

L'Oreal Colour Riche in 172 Blushing Sequin was beautiful, sheer bright pink.  It just feels nice.  Covergirl Lip Perfection in 300 Flame was a magenta, it wears fast but is a great color and texture.

I bought the Wet n Wild Mega Last light pink (901B Think Pink) on a whim since it was 99 cents, and it was amazing!  It's borderline Nicki Minaj opaque matte.  I started carrying it in my purse right away.  Since I loved that one I bought 911D Stoplight Red which isn't as matte, but is a great bright red that lasted pretty long.  I did use a Wet n Wild lip liner for the red.

I liked a lot of the colors and the texture of the Maybelline Color Sensational New Vivids, but they didn't last very long.  The Rimmel Kate line is pretty good.  I especially loved the matte (red tubes).  However, they're all scented and I don't deal with scents well.  I especially disliked the L'Oreal Infallible lipsticks I tried.  ♥ Mallory
