Beauty - Lorde's Royals Makeup

The first time I watched Lorde's Royals video I thought, "dang her makeup is awesome."  So, when Jill (my neighbor growing up) and I finally lined our schedules up to collaborate on beauty posts again we chose to do this look first.  Jill chose to go a bit bolder on me though since I have hooded eyelids, to make more of a statement.  In the past she did this 60s look, this teal eyeliner look, and she is in this post.

The first thing she said was, "this is very simple to do."  I don't wear eyeshadow everyday, so it intimidated me.  Lucky for you & I both Jill broke it down into a few easy steps.
1. Too Faced Glitter Glue all over the eyelid as a primer.  She also filled in my brows a bit with MAC shadow in Wedge.
2. She used a creamy shimmer shadow from the Urban Decay Naked Palette as a base and to provide some dimension.

3. I thought this would be the scary part.  Jill busted out a small angled brush and filled it with black shadow from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (she tried a Mac one first, but it was pale so she switched).  Now here is the important part: she tapped her brush to make sure there wouldn't be any loose pieces that would drop onto unwanted spots.  She quickly did the outline of the shadow cateye using the angled bristles to her advantage.  Not so scary.
4.  Next she got out a softer brush to blend the shadow inward.  When you blend it will get lighter, so you may need to redo steps 3 & 4 to get a darker color.  Building up is better than going crazy on the first try.

5. Last she used MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Liner to line my lid right above my lashes, winging up to meet the shadow outline.
6.  We also used an Urban Decay lipstick that is apparently discontinued, but you can use any great natural color.  She also threw on some Hard Candy blush, Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara, and some Benefit Watt's Up highlighter in a C shape from the end of the brow to the top of the cheekbone.

She impressed me.  I also received a few compliments later that evening on my makeup.  Let me know if you try it out yourself!  ♥ Mallory
